Range Challenge Team competes at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst
Nov 17, 2025
The Valley Forge Military College Army ROTC Ranger Challenge team competed in the 2025 2nd Brigade Ranger Challenge at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in New Jersey from Friday Nov. 14 to Sunday, Nov. 16.
Ranger Challenge is an annual United States Army Cadet Command grueling competition that challenges cadets to exceed their perceived limits physically, mentally, and intellectually. Modeled after Ranger School, the two-day competition includes demanding events meant to replicate the challenges of military leadership.
VFMC finished 27th of 46 teams as the only Military Junior College to compete at the event. The team typically competes in 1st Brigade’s competition against other MJCs, but the government shutdown canceled this year’s event, giving our Cadets an opportunity to challenge themselves as they outperformed traditional 4-year ROTC programs like Bucknell, Temple, and Rutgers.
“Despite the age and experience gap our team excelled, beating high performing programs across the northeast,” Professor of Military Science LTC John Meier said.
