Scholarships are a form of gift aid that does not need to be re-paid and are awarded on the basis of merit and/or financial need as defined by the specific scholarship program.

YELLOW RIBBON PROGRAM

The Yellow Ribbon Program is a provision of the Post-911 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008 (GI Bill®). Under this program, the act provides payments for tuition, fees, book and supplies stipend and a housing allowance for veterans who have served on active duty since September 11, 2001.

Yellow Ribbon Program is a provision of the Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008. This program allows Valley Forge Military College to voluntarily enter into an agreement with VA to fund up to 50% of tuition expenses that exceed the annual maximum cap for private institutions. The VA will match the same amount as the institution. Valley Forge Military College funds this in the form a scholarship.

The federal government provides grants for students attending college or career school. Most types of grants, unlike loans, are sources of financial aid that generally do not have to be repaid.

The Pennsylvania State Grant, administered by PHEAA, provides need-based financial aid to eligible Pennsylvania residents attending approved colleges in-state. Award amounts vary based on financial need, family income, and the school’s cost of attendance.

Certain scenarios may require that a portion or all of the grant funds be repaid— for example, if you withdraw from school before finishing an enrollment period such as a semester, or if you receive a TEACH Grant and do not complete your service obligation.

Education loans are the primary source of student aid. Eligibility is determined based on information on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

For many students, federal education loans may be the only form of assistance available.

Besides the loans available to students, parents who request additional assistance will be directed to consider the Parent PLUS Loan Program. Parents who qualify for this program can borrow up to the cost of attendance minus any aid to their student.

The PA Forward Student Loan Program, offered by PHEAA, provides low-fixed-rate private loans to help Pennsylvania students and families cover remaining education costs after federal aid and scholarships. It features no fees, flexible repayment options, and eligibility for both students and parents. This program can help VFMA and VFMC families bridge any remaining gap in their college financing plan.

Work study provides part-time jobs for students with financial need, allowing them to earn money to help pay education expenses. The program encourages community service work and work related to the student’s course of study.

Valley Forge Military College is a participating institution in the Grow PA Scholarship Grant Program, administered by the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA).

The Grow PA Scholarship Grant Program helps Pennsylvania students pursue degrees connected to high-demand occupations in the Commonwealth. Eligible students may receive up to $5,000 per academic year for up to four academic years, depending on enrollment level and available funding.

Eligible VFMC Programs

Basic Eligibility

• Be a Pennsylvania resident.
• Complete the FAFSA.
• Be enrolled at least half-time in an eligible associate or bachelor’s degree program.
• Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements.
• Complete the Grow PA application and Master Promissory Note.

Important Student Commitment
Students who receive a Grow PA Scholarship Grant must agree to live and work in Pennsylvania in an approved in-demand occupation after graduation. If a student does not meet the degree completion or employment obligation requirements, the grant may be converted to a loan that must be repaid.

2. Complete the Grow PA Scholarship Grant Application.

3. Complete the required Master Promissory Note.

4. Submit materials through PHEAA Account Access.
