VFMC hosts 3rd Annual National Security Symposium

Valley Forge Military College hosted the third annual National Security Symposium on Friday in Eisenhower Hall. The event brought together category experts to discuss U.S. national security issues, as well as security in homeland emergencies, and foreign affairs.

 

Featured speakers at the event included LTC Rafael G. Perez from the Army War College, Dr. Ahmet Yayla, the Director of the Center for Homeland Security at DeSales University, and J.C. Lintzenich, a 1993 Academy alumnus who is the National Security Advisor for United States Senator Thom Tillis.

 

BG George Schwartz (Ret), MAJ Loris Lepri, and LTC Todd Hamski, from the Army War College, held a panel discussion When Securing the Homeland Becomes Defending the Homeland: Understanding Homeland Defense.

 

Students in attendance were also put through a Tabletop Emergency Management Simulation led by VFMAC Director of Security Dave Baradgie. VFMC adjunct and retired state trooper Berchard Suber, Lt. James Kelly of the Havertown Police Department, Sgt. Pete Baylor of the Marple Police Department and BG Schwartz guided students through the exercise and taught them about emergency management.
