Valley Forge Military College Announces Agreement Allowing Eastern University to Purchase Adjacent Property
Dec 02, 2025
Valley Forge Military College (VFMC) today announced it has entered into an agreement that will allow Eastern University to purchase VFMC’s athletic campus, located north of VFMC’s main campus, further strengthening a partnership in place for more than a decade. The transaction involves roughly 33 acres adjacent to the VFMC main campus, primarily used for athletic purposes, and will not affect the main campus nor College operations.
“This agreement is a positive milestone for both institutions,” said Colonel Stuart B. Helgeson, USMC (Ret), President of Valley Forge Military College. “It’s a win for VFMC, Eastern, and the surrounding community. It allows each of us to move forward with confidence, continue investing in our respective missions, and support the students and communities we serve.”
“VFMC and Eastern have enjoyed a strong, collaborative relationship for many years, and this agreement reflects our shared commitment to continuing that partnership well into the future,” added Helgeson.
The agreement advances several shared goals. Eastern will be able to expand its campus footprint to support growing student and program needs. VFMC can right-size its physical footprint and reinvest proceeds into its long-term facilities plan, strengthening the College’s future. The space will remain a permanent resource for VFMC cadets for athletics and physical training. The property will continue to be a green space and athletic fields, preserving its value for Eastern, VFMC, and the broader community.
A portion of these facilities has been leased to Eastern University since 2021. Under the new agreement, the property will transfer to Eastern following the completion of the standard due diligence and regulatory approval process over the coming months.
The terms of the agreement will remain confidential until the due diligence period has passed.
The College will continue to serve students through its academic pathways, military leadership programs, and partnership-driven educational model. This agreement strengthens VFMC’s ability to focus resources on its core mission and future growth.
