CPT Howard A. Crawford, USAF, MSC (Ret.)
Captain Howard A. Crawford, USAF, MSC (Ret.) brings more than three decades of distinguished service in federal healthcare, military leadership, and executive management to the Board of Trustees.
Captain Crawford began his career in 1987 in the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Air Force Reserve, serving initially as a medic and later commissioning as a Medical Service Corps officer. His early assignments included emergency room leadership with the 1st Tactical Fighter Wing at Langley Air Force Base, where he served as Non Commissioned Officer in Charge and deployed globally in support of Operations New Horizon, Desert Shield, Desert Storm, and missions throughout South America.
Following his commissioning, Captain Crawford served at Westover Air Force Base, Massachusetts, where his responsibilities included TRICARE administration, healthcare readiness, protocol, medical procurement, and chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) operations. His leadership and commitment to service were notably recognized when he was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal for saving the life of a critically ill child during a mission in a remote region of Central America.
After transitioning to the Air Force Reserve, Captain Crawford continued his dedication to public service as a U.S. Air Force Academy Admissions Liaison Officer (ALO), mentoring and guiding future officers. He has also assisted in recruiting for Valley Forge Military College and other regional institutions, helping shape the next generation of military and civic leaders.
In the private sector, Captain Crawford is a Pharmaceutical Executive with extensive experience working alongside government agencies, bringing proven expertise in branded and generic pharmaceuticals, healthcare policy, and medical procurement. He is currently the Owner and Chief Executive Officer of Patriotic Solutions, LLC, a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business based in West Chester, Pennsylvania.
A recognized leader in federal healthcare, Captain Crawford is a member of the Association of Military Surgeons of the United States (AMSUS), where he has served in multiple leadership roles, including Chairman and Legislative Lead, and was named the organization’s first Chairman Emeritus.
His awards and decorations include Medic of the Year (Air Force Reserve Command), Non Commissioned Officer of the Year (1st Tactical Fighter Wing), Hospital Administrator of the Quarter and Year (Westover AFB), the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal with oak leaf cluster, Air Force Achievement Medal, and the 2023 Chapel of the Four Chaplains Humanitarian Award.
Captain Crawford is married to his high school sweetheart, Debbie, and they have two sons. Matthew, a Penn State graduate (Class of 2020), and 2nd Lieutenant Brian Crawford, USA, a VFMAC graduate (Class of 2022), currently stationed in Alaska. His career reflects a lifelong commitment to service, leadership, and stewardship—values he brings to his role as a Trustee.
