Giving Tuesday
Oct 20, 2022
Giving Tuesday is traditionally the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. For 2022, it will be Tuesday, November 29th. Established only a decade ago, it is intended as a day global generosity – carrying over from the gratitude of the US Thanksgiving holiday.
It is an important day at VFMAC. “Thanksgiving is really the start of the holiday season,” said Mrs. Stephanie M. Helgeson, director of development. “It is a time when people are feeling particularly thankful and generous.”
There are a number of projects in consideration as the focus as this year’s Giving Tuesday theme. “As a campus nearly 100 years old, many things can benefit,” said Mrs. Helgeson. “While the specific theme is still in consideration, all efforts will enhance Cadet life here on campus.”
Mrs. Helgeson says bringing people in to VFMAC so they can see what happens here as we educate Cadets to become future leaders helps them recognize the value of a VFMAC education. “We will be livestreaming throughout the day via Facebook so everyone can get a view of Cadet life here,” she said.
In the past, funds from Giving Tuesday have enabled a refurbishment of the Boodle, the primary point of relaxation for Cadets during free time and on weekends. Watch for an update on Giving Tuesday’s theme and target goal.
