Army ROTC Early Commissioning Program

Army ROTC

Through Valley Forge Military College’s Army ROTC Early Commissioning Program, you will become a second lieutenant at the end of your sophomore year. This is a rare and prestigious opportunity, and Valley Forge Military College is the only college in the northeastern United States that can make it possible for you.

Enrolling in the Early Commissioning Program signifies your commitment to serve in the Army upon receiving your commission. After commissioning, you will pursue further education at a university of your choice that is a host, partner, or affiliated institution with the U.S. Army ROTC program.

Become an Army Officer in Two Years

Early Commissioning Program (ECP) cadets at Valley Forge are afforded a unique and accelerated experience. By their sophomore year, many hold leadership positions, including Regimental Executive Officer, Infantry Battalion Commander, and Regimental Sergeant Major. Academically, ECP cadets are out front as well.

If accepted to this program, your opportunities upon graduation are best-in-class. As graduates, newly commissioned second lieutenants serve in National Guard or Army Reserve units as platoon leaders while they complete their bachelor’s degrees at colleges and universities nationwide. During their senior year at their follow-on university, lieutenants who are eligible may compete for active duty with ROTC students in their cohort. When cadets receive their bachelor’s degree, they will continue serving in the National Guard, the Reserves, or as active duty officers worldwide.

The Army ROTC ECP Application Process

If accepted into ECP, the ROTC department will provide the candidate with additional required paper work.

Incoming candidates that have not yet completed Basic Combat Training in one of the branches of the armed forces are required to complete Basic Camp at Fort Knox, Kentucky the summer prior to starting freshman year. The ROTC recruiting officer will schedule this training for candidates once all of their paper work is complete to include a physical. The summer in between freshman and sophomore year, cadets must complete Advanced Camp at Fort Knox, Kentucky, which is a five week training course designed to develop leadership competencies.

The ROTC application process runs from July 1st to April 15th of the following year.
