Character Development: Wes Becton ’83, ’85C (Personal Courage)

Julius “Wes” Becton III MBA, PCC ’83, ’85C was Friday’s Character Development Chapel Series Speaker, kicking off the 2025 VFMAC Alumni Celebration by talking to the cadets and others in attendance about the character trait of personal motivation.
Wes is an executive leadership coach and business consultant working with leaders across a wide range of industries. He graduated from Valley Forge Military Academy in 1983 and the Valley Forge Military College in 1985, serving as the Cadet 1st Captain and Regimental Commander for the 1984-1985 Academic Year.
After graduating with his Bachelor’s degree from George Washington University, Wes served as a platoon leader in the Demilitarized Zone in Korea and later as the Commander of the U.S. Army’s Honor Guard Company. Wes is a graduate of the US Army Ranger School, Airborne School, and the Air Assault School.
Wes then moved into the corporate world, and spent more than 20 years as a healthcare executive, leading physician practices and surgery centers, before serving as the President of an ophthalmology practice. In addition to co-founding George Washington Street Partners and his extensive coaching experience, Wes has served on a number of for-profit and nonprofit boards including Elmhurst University, Northeastern Illinois University, The Commuter Rail Board, New Directions Housing Corporation, and Pan American Bank.
Wes is a Professional Certified Coach (PCC), a member of the International Coach Federation (ICF), and teaches entrepreneurship, leadership and organizational behavior at Lewis University. He is also an active surveyor with the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care.
