Candidates arrive for Mini Camp, head to Fort Knox for Basic Camp
Jun 29, 2025
New candidates for Valley Forge Military College’s ROTC and MCAP programs were on campus from June 23-28 for Mini Camp. The week-long training is used to prepare cadets for success at Basic Camp in Fort Knox, Kentucky.
During VFMC’s Mini Camp, cadets were issued their gear and received haircuts. They learned drill and ceremony, were introduced to land navigation, went through preliminary marksmanship instruction and took the Combat Water Survival Test, Army Combat Fitness Test, and Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery.
Former cadets Mason Hall, Hector Milian, Linda Brown, and Daniel Nulman, who graduated from VFMC and commissioned as second lieutenants in May, were back on campus helping the new cadets prepare along with the cadre.
Our cadets arrived at Fort Knox on June 28 for Basic Camp, a month-long training event designed to introduce cadets to the Army. The objective is to develop leadership skills, provide training in individual and leader tasks for small unit tactical operations, instill the Warrior Ethos, and reinforce our Army Values.
Valley Forge Military College offers the unique opportunity to commission as an officer in the Army (ROTC) or Pennsylvania National Guard (MCAP) in two years.
