The Digital Forensics Certificate program provides a comprehensive education in the key areas of cybercrime investigation. You’ll begin by developing a strong understanding of computer information systems and learn the legal principles that govern digital investigations.
As you progress, you’ll gain practical programming skills essential for data analysis and manipulation in forensic contexts, combined with an in-depth exploration of digital forensics, where you’ll learn the specialized techniques required to recover, examine, and present digital evidence.
What You Will Learn
Four Course Sequence
Introduction to Computer Information Systems
Provides an overview of computer information systems, including hardware, software, and telecommunications, with practical experience in applications like word processing and spreadsheets. It also examines the societal impact of computers, security concerns, and systems analysis.
Introduction to Constitutional Law
Explores the American judicial system, focusing on the Supreme Court’s interpretation of the U.S. Constitution. It covers key constitutional doctrines, civil liberties, and significant Supreme Court decisions affecting civil rights and government powers.
Introduction to Programming I
Introduces fundamental programming concepts, including data types, control structures, and functions, using a high-level programming language. Students will develop basic programming skills and gain an introduction to object-oriented programming.
Digital Forensics
Focuses on the principles and practices of digital forensics, teaching students how to collect, analyze, and present digital evidence. It covers forensic tools, file recovery techniques, and the legal aspects of digital investigations.
Program Core
Our Certificate program provides expertise in the rapidly changing Cybersecurity landscape by leveraging the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE) through a series of four courses.
These courses can be taken within any of our two-year programs, or as a standalone Certificate.
If pursuing the Certificate only, students can complete the sequence of courses within one year.
